Subject: Asrock X99 WS Ram compatibility

So okay I am thinking of replacing my current RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148866" rel="nofollow - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148866
With this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231903" rel="nofollow - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231903
According to the website Asrock X99 WS: "Supports DDR4 3200+(OC)*/2933(OC)/2800(OC)/2400(OC)/2133 non-ECC, un-buffered memory"
Source: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20WS/?cat=Specifications" rel="nofollow - http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20WS/?cat=Specifications
However when I checked the actual manual it says: "Supports DDR4 3000+(OC)*/2933+(OC)/2800(OC)/2400 (OC)/2133/1866/1600/1333/1066 non-ECC, un-buffered memory"
Which is the correct one 3200 or 3000? The one I want to buy is 3200 so if 3000 is the correct one I may not buy it.

Keep in mind, the X99 WS has been around for appx a year and a half, at the relative infancy of DDR4.

3000 may well have been the fastest when those specs for the board were written. Too I see a very new BETA BIOS that includes RAM Compatibility.

Below is the listings G.Skill themselves have tested with your WS board.

I'd suggest ask http://www.gskill.com/en/contact" rel="nofollow - G.Skill Tech Support (<-link) if they would kindly test that 3200 you're looking at buying, BEFORE you buy it. Give 'em time to wrangle the two together there and they'll reply back their results and also likely give you more 3200 suggestions.

And before you do insert whatever sticks, replacing what you have working now, I would flash to the latest BIOS available. BETA or production, whichever is newer.

Well it's unfortunate but at least they replied saying "Asrock X99 WS will not be able to use 3200MHz speed, we will guarantee the compatibility up to 2666MHz for this motherboard. Sorry for the inconvenience."

That's only a standard CYA boilerplate response. I wouldn't read too much into that. They, you, I everyone knows, an OC is never guaranteed.

Do some searching here. IIRC there's quite a few Users here that have gotten higher than 2666MHz sticks working on their X99 boards.

And this ^^ is still your best bet.

Getting G.Skill themselves to Certify some fast DDR4 for this board.

Just to update this thread I recently emailed again G.Skill because Asrock updated their memory support list:http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99%20WS/?cat=Memory

I emailed G.Skill saying "Asrock X99 WS can support F4-2800C16Q-32GRR but according to your RAM Configurator: http://www.gskill.com/en/configurator?manu=52&chip=2276&model=2295
It's only up to 2666 MHz and what's strange Asrock does not list support (for X99 WS) for your 2666 MHz 32GRKB, 32GRR, 32GRB and 64GRB"

and the reply was
"
Dear Sir,

We can guarantee the compatibility memory kit who list on the configurator as well.

Thank you for choosing G.SKILL

Best Regards

Tech Support Team
F.A.E
G.SKILL international
 "
edit:The first email many months ago was about trying for 3200MHz but G.Skill responded

"Dear Sir, We will list the memory kit who can be compatible only, and Asrock X99 WS will not be able to use 3200MHz speed, we will guarantee the compatibility up to 2666MHz for this motherboard. Sorry for the inconvenience. Best Regards Tech Support Team F.A.E G.SKILL international"
