Seems that I cannot get the USB 3.0 speeds out of my PC. Whether it?™s my Akasa AK-HC-07BK card reader, or the USB 3.0 ports on the rear of the motherboard. Using the proper cable, through the rear USB 3.0, the download speeds are slow, sub 100 mb/s slow. Also, even drive transfer speeds are painfully slow.
Taking a video from two internal SSD drives (850 EVO) I?™m getting 58 mb/s transfer speed.
Curious as to what to check. CPU is i7 4790K, 2x8 GB G-Skill DDR-3 2400 Trident-X.

What OS are you running, win 10?
Make sure you have your intel chipset (inf) drivers installed. It sounds like your OS is defaulting to legacy SATA and USB speeds.

Yes Win 10.
I tried restart and enter BIOS but don't have the option upon restart. We didnjust recently switch to a Corsair K70 USB keyboard.
I swapped back to the old non-USB keyboard but still no option to enter BIOS on restart.

I was able to get into the BIOS after a reset. This is the configuration:
USB Controller--------------Enabled Intel USB3.0 Mode-----------Smart Auto Legacy USB Support----------Enabled Legacy USB 3.0 Support------Enabled USB Compatibility Patch-----Disabled Third Party USB 3.0 Controller-Enabled

So I have to confess I made an error. I was transferring files and the drive I chose was a WD Black magnetic drive....my mistake.
The USB 3.0 speeds are still slow but the drive transfer was user error.
