I haven't built a new system in some time and need some help. I cannot get the HD lite, power lite, or diagnostic LEDs and the system will not boot. I have double checked all my connections. I tried with and without memory & disks. I tried with the built in HDMI (using an adapter) and with a old card I have on hand. Nothing.

The two case fans do not run but the CPU cooler fan, the onboard GPU fan and the PSU fan all run. I moved the connection for the case fans to other connections and no change.

I've shorted the BIOS several times between changes. Pulled all SATA data cables.

I'm out of ideas. Can anyone offer help?

My system details are:

Start with the power supply, power? Short pins with paperclip Fans run?
Remove from case, place on non conductive surface, cpu board and one memory stick.
All power cables connected there are two......what happens?

Your note made me verify that the power was properly connected.

When I ran the 2X8 cable to the MB connection, I routed it thru the back and it was a tight fit. I pulled on it a little to make the connection. The cable pulled out of the PSU just a little so it appeared that it was connected. Some things had power but others didn't.

After your note I double checked and the cable was just a little out. I firmly pushed it in and bing! everything worked.

My favorite comment to people I help, "Is it plugged in?"

Thanks
