This might be a stupid question, are all m.2 slots the same, or are there different generations? I'm looking to buy a m.2 drive, but when I was looking on newegg, I saw several iterations under form factor, which had me a bit confused. I haven't followed this at all really.

M.2 2230

M.2 2242
(78)

M.2 2260
(4)

M.2 2280
(999+)

M.2 22110

I assume these are all different generations of m.2 drives, but are they all compatible with my older m.2 slot on my taichi board?

PS: I am using an older bios version too. I haven't updated it in quite awhile. I might do that one day.
