Hi all,
yesterday my friend and I build his new PC with a Ryzen 5 5600X on a AsRock B550 Phantom Gaming ITX-AX.
We have updated to the newest BIOS P1.61.
We have noticed, that even with BIOS Settings set to default, that the CPU has idle temperatures of 65-70 in the BIOS and voltages of 1.3-1.4V.
Compared to 32 degrees and voltages of 0.9 to 1.0V with the box cooler in this video (5:40): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=omNtKUVIChg
Even in Windows and Idle we see idle temperatures of 65C in Ryzen Master. Ryzen Master at Default. No other tools running.
With all set to default, shouldn't the idle temperature be somewhere around 30-40C?
Cooler is a Alpine Ridge Titan for the Dan A4 with a Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM chromax.black.swap.
Case is the Dan A4.
I know, this is not the best cooling in the world, but idle 65-70C?!
Best, Chris

Sorry, there is a typo in my first post.
Cooler is a Alpenföhn Black Ridge.
And we also tried Bios P1.60. Didn't change anything.
We are about to try out a different board as the fan is constantly spinning up in Windows even when doing basic stuff on the Desktop.

I would open a support ticket with ASRock Tech Support: https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp
It sounds like it might be an issue with how the OS is detecting sensor outputs. Maybe the OS is picking up the Tctl reading as Tdie. The Tctl reading has a positive offset (reads high) so that fans can be controlled more reliably and respond more quickly to temp spikes.
If I am right then it could be a BIOS bug which only ASRock or the OS developer can help resolve.

Looks like a decent low profile cooler. https://www.overclockers.co.uk/alpenfohn-black-ridge-low-profile-cpu-cooler-120mm-hs-05g-al.html I would re-install the cooler. Does your case have enough cooling, fans?

The BIOS seems to report the temp 20 degrees higher than it is. I recall reading there is a +20 degree offset on ryzen tCTL reading.
Boot into your OS and check the temp, and you should be around 38-45C idle.
