Hi guys.
So I'm running the following:
Two 8 gig sticks of G.SKILL Model: F4-2400C15D-16GFT
I am using it with the following equipment:
mb: ASRock Fatal1ty X370 GAMING X BIOS 5.50.
cpu: AMD RYZEN 7 1700X 8-Core 3.4 GHz Socket AM4 95W YD170XBCAEWOF
Two huge problems:
1) The sticks do not run in Dual Channel mode, even though they are capable of such a mode.
2) You can only run one stick without errors. This is single rank memory, you can therefore put them in any of the slots.
If you run one stick at a time, memtest86 posts 100% tests and I tested each slot, with each stick.
The second you put a second stick into any of the slots, you get Win 10 system crashes and memtest85 either passes at 81%, 85% or crashes.
There is something seriously wrong with this setup. This should be running out of the box. This could be an AMD issue, I've sent out a tech support form - albeit on Sunday the 7th - but is there anyone here that can tell me if these sticks are flat out incompatible with Ryzen 7 CPUs?
The AMD memory / motherboard compatibility sheet has this memory on their list.
Need to know, this is causing a lot of crashes and I need to know if I need to sell this memory.
Will upgrading to the latest versions of BIOS solve anything?
Regards.

A bios update may help. It is a small possibility the memory controller in the CPU is defective.

Done it already. Came with 5.2 out of the box, it's been at 5.5 for about two weeks and no change.
Further, the site clearly states:
"*ASRock do NOT recommend updating this BIOS if Pinnacle, Raven, Summit or Bristol Ridge CPU is being used on your system."
The RYZEN 7 1700 is a Summit Ridge CPU, soo...not necessarily a good idea.
Do you have a link to the details of what each subsequent BIOS upgrade is supposed to accomplish?
Again, this memory was listed as compatible with ryzen CPUs three years ago: it was supposed to work out of the box.
Regards.

I do not think there is a page that explains the changes.
