Hello.

I did a new build with a creator x570 and a 5900x.
The system is restarting itself more or less randomly.
Mostly when rendering in redshift.

The neweset bios version and the newest chipset drivers in Windows 10 are installed.

I double checked every cable and tried several bios settings.
The only way to get the system work stable is to disbale pbo. But this can not be the solition.

Is this a bios / driver issue or is the cpu broken?

The system:
Asrock Creator x570
5900x
Asus Tuf 3090 OC
Hyper X 2x32GB 3200Mhz
Samsung 960 pro M2 - 500GB
Corsair HX850i platinum PSU

Thanks!

Dear Taco,
Thank you for the posting.

Could you please help to provide the PBO setting of your system for our reference?

We would like to check it further.

Thank you,

Best wishes,

Try flashing back to the 3.00 AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 V2 1.0.8.0 BIOS and see if you are automagically stable all of a sudden.

The Bios and also the PBO settings are stock.
I've only turned on the XMP. But with XMP on the system will not run longer than a couple of minutes.
I forced the Ram to 3200mhz and 1.350 Volts manually. With this the system runs stable longer, but still with random reboots.

System:
Board: X570 Creator, Bios 3.30
CPU: 5900x
Ram: Hyper X 3200mhz 2x32GB
GPU: Asus Tuf 3090 OC
PSU: Corsair HX850i
System Drive: Samsung 970 Pro m.2 500GB

Dear Taco,
Thank you for the reply.

Could you please set the memory frequency to default(no overclock) to try>
We would like to know what is the cause of your problem, PBO or memory frequency.

Thank you,

Okay. All I have tried following settings:

XMP on / PBO on: Restarts
XMP off / PBO on: Restarts
XMP off / PBO off: No Restarts (so far)
XMP on / PBO off: No Restarts (so far)
Ram manually set to 3200 mhz, 1.350V / PBO on: Stable for a couple of hours, but restarts also.

Hope this will help.

Dear Taco,
Thank you for the reply.

Just took X570 Creator and CPU 5900X to test, but didn't reproduce the issue.
In our lab, the system can run Prime95 smallest FFTs or play video on Youtube properly after setting the PBO to "Enable".

For this case, could you please tell us how did you reproduce the issue with your system? We will check it further.

Thank you,

Dear Asrock Team,

thank you for your engagement.

In my case the restarts happen 99% while rendering with redshift in cinema4d. Or in heavy load situations overall.

I replaced the 5900x with a 3700x and had no problems.

I have the suspicion that maybe the cpu is broken or the cpu and the ram are not compatible. Ram is:
HyperX Fury 2x, 32GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 288 / HX432C16FB3K2/64

Dear Taco,
Thank you for the reply.

Generally, if the system works properly with only enable XMP profile, it means that the processor and memory are compatible.

According to your verification, if the problem can be fixed by replacing the CPU, we though the problem might relate to the CPU more.

Thank you,

Best wishes,

All I can say is, when the PBO is enabled, I get restarts. Mainly when I want to start a render, or the redshift viewport is refreshing.

I will now contact AMD also.

Dear Taco,
Thank you for the reply.

PBO enables CPU to maintain higher voltages for longer times, it means system will need more power after enabling this feature.
The CPU 5900X and GPU 3090 belongs to the device which has large power consumption. I afraid that the System will need at least 1200W to make itself working stably when it loading under PBO mode.

For this case, you can also use a stronger PSU to verify.

Thank you,

Best wishes,

Yes. I´m afraid that could caused the issue.
I lowered the power consumption of the 3090 to 70% and no restarts so far. Now I am going to do a 24h render test with this setting.

I really thought a 850W Platinum PSU is strong enough.
