Subject: Error code A2 - Cannot reset BIOS
Date Posted: 07 Jan 2021 at 12:58am
Hello there,
I am Dani and I am new on this forum.
And I have a BIG problem.

My PC won't boot and show up the A2 code.

I tried to clear CMOS, removed CMOS battery, pull out all SATAs.
I tested on minimum configuration (CPU, 1 stick of RAM at a time) and USB keyboad: got the same A2 code.

Help me please!

I am desperate

Dear Dani958,

Thanks for posting your query!

Since you have already tried to clear CMOS and minimum bootable system and the system is still not booting up.

Kindly try the suggestions below:
1. Try installing other RAM on different slots.
2. Reinstall the power supply and the CPU.
3. If possible, kindly try with a different power supply.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

I unfortunately have only those 2 RAM sticks and I tried every combination.
And I have only that PSU.

I tested the min config without RAM, the computer starts, but displays nothing: is it normal?
The monitor works and the HDMI cable also works because I tested on other monitor/TV.

...
I can try to reinstall the power supply and the CPU: I'll test it tomorrow.
Thanks

Dear Dani958,

Thanks for the reply.

There is often a situation where the system starts but does not have the signals of the monitor.

One of the causes of this problem is that the system cannot get the RAM to work.

If reinstall the PSU and CPU result in the same behavior, we will recommend contacting the store directly to check all of the parts.

With thanks,
ASRock TSD

I tried to reinstall CPU & PSU. Stuck at A2.
Then I place all the components and used the hairdryer and now it magically works again.

What can the problem be?

I ran Intel processor Diagnostic Toll and my cpu is ok.

Humidity on the mobo?

My GPU has a little damp spot on the top.

Today it's same story.
I turn the pc on and stuck at A2 code.

CPU is ok.
GPU is ok.
PSU and RAM are ok otherwise it wouldn't start yesterday, am I right?

Maybe the problem is the mobo (ASRock Z170 Pro4)...

When it does boot run Memtest. If the ram is good then I would try a different power supply.

RAM should be installed in slots A2 and B2 for optimum performance with 2 modules.

Try this for clearing CMOS:

Thanks Xaltar
I already did clear CMOS many times and the RAM sticks are in the right position

In the last few days I have tried to turn the PC on, but it's stuck at bios page with A2 code.
