I am using ASRock Phantom Gaming 4, and it is always showing 33C Southbridge temperature no matter what I am doing. The problem is that the case fans would not work according to the motherboard temperature even though I am running various stress tests. It is updated with the latest BIOS and chipset. Is it a malfunctioning product? In HWMonitor, I can see that the mainboard and the CPU temp is rising, but the southbridge temp is stuck at 33C, and the fans would not increase their speeds.

Thank you for your help.

I don't believe that fan ever stops spinning, it just slows down, when chipset is not hot. Any software monitoring utility will not be too accurate and sometimes can even misreport. Check it within BIOS, what temps it has and it should go up or down a little bit over time. You can also adjust the fan speed from BIOS, to see if that affects chipset temps.

Even in BIOS the motherboard temp is fixed at 33. I am not talking about stopping the fans; what I am saying is that since the mobo temp is fixed at 33C, it would not change no matter how I change the fan curve.

It is possible it's a blown sensor
