I have searched the world for a fix to this problem. When using the remote control, also from the dashboard I get the question to open the "jviewer.jlnp".

I answer open with the "JAVA WEB start Launcher".

The next question is do I want to run "com.ami.kvm.jviewer.JViewer"?

When I answer yes it opens the jviewer page and display the following error message; "Video Socket Error: Abnormal Termination".

I have the latest version of Java and the latest firmware update for the motherboard. I believe that The Java security is set up correctly or I would not get as far as I have.

I am attempting to access the IPMI from a Windows 7 computer and Firefox.

Does anybody have any ideas that could point me to the correct solution?

I also had this issue with my new E3C226D2I board and managed to discover the solution.  Given this is the only post that referenced my exact error (Video Socket Error: Abnormal Termination) I wanted to post what worked for me.

My client config:

Windows 8.1 Pro
Java 8 u51

Mainboard config
UEFI 3.30
BMC 0.18

Steps:

1.  Log into IPMI web interface via browser of choice.
2.  Update UEFI/BMC if not already done
3.  Go to Configuration -> SSL, click the Generate SSL tab
4.  Fill in the fields appropriately (specifics don't really matter as we're going to trust the generated cert regardless)
5.  Once done, you should get prompted to reconnect
6.  Via browser of choice, reconnect to the IPMI via SSL and SAVE the SSL cert for the site.  Google it if you don't know how.
7.  Import the saved cert to your Trusted Root Certificate Authority store.  Google it if you don't know how.
8.  Reconnect via SSL and you SHOULD be able to launch the KVM without issue.  You'll probably get several security prompts, but if you just click through them, things should work.

You may also need to whitelist the IP/CNAME of the IPMI interface in the Java control panel, but I did not have to to get things to work.

So, in a nutshell, the expired SSL certificate that ships with the standard firmware was the problem and generating a new self-signed cert (and trusting said cert) fixed the issue for me.

Hope this is useful to somebody else.

Hi, Im having the same issue also.

I was wondering, on step 6.

"6.  Via browser of choice, reconnect to the IPMI via SSL and SAVE the SSL cert for the site.  Google it if you don't know how"

Im having difficulty saving the generated SSL certificates via IPMI. could anyone give me details or reference how its done.

Thanks

Finally I got it to work by:

  1. Uninstall the previous Java and download and install the jdk-8u121 version
  2. Create a Self signed certificate via openssl (you might want to install it first) or if you already have Git on your PC then you can point the cnf file to it by running the following command
    1. "set OPENSSL_CONF=c:/libs/openssl-0.9.8k/openssl.cnf"
  3. create the key and the certificate by:
    1. req -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes -keyout key.pem -x509 -days 365 -out certificate.pem
  4. log back in to the ipmi web interface via IE
  5. Navigate to Configuration -> SSL and upload the key and the certificate
  6. Goto control panel and open java options and add the ip of the ipmi with port number like https://192.168.1.150:443" rel="nofollow - https://192.168.1.150:443
  7. re-open ipmi interface via IE and launch the app and BINGO!
