Subject: Resizable BAR support for X299
Date Posted: 20 May 2021 at 12:14pm
Hi.

I would like to request an updated BIOS for adding Resizable BAR support (or C.A.M.) to the X299 motherboard lineup.

Currently, ASUS, EVGA, MSI, and Gigabyte have recently begun adding support to their X299 boards, and it would be a welcome addition to see Asrock do the same for their X299 motherboards, and would go a long way in keeping the HEDT platform current.

For reference, my motherboard is: Fatal1ty X299 Gaming K6

Thanks.

Any official response to this?

I would like to know Asrock's stance on this issue.

I've also opened a support ticket that's also gone unanswered.

Hi Gamer313,

Thank you for your post.

Please update the BIOS P2.00B for the CAM function. The BIOS file's download link is as below.

After updating BIOS, please follow the instructions below to enable "CAM".

1.boot into BIOS and go to the "boot" page, then go to "CSM"
2.Disabled "CSM"
3.Go to Advanced\chipset configuration, then enable "Above 4G" and "CAM"

Please make sure you are using the AMD RX6000 series or the NVIDIA 30 series with the vBIOS which supports Resizable BAR.

Neither of the above links work.

Could you please re-upload again?

Thanks.

Never mind.

The bit after the last '/' needed to be removed.

Link works fine.

Hello, do you have a link for a BIOS with Resizablebar support for the X299 Killer SLI/ac ?

The most recent bios version available on the support site is 2.00 and dates back to 2019/11/29.

If it does not exist yet, do you plan on release one with Resizablebar support anytime soon ?

The C.A.M. option doesn't show up if 'Fast Boot' is enabled.

My understanding was that 'Fast Boot' didn't use CSM, and since 'Fast Boot' hides the CSM option, it cannot be disabled.

Otherwise, C.A.M. works as expected.

I do not have the same motherboard as you. However, I'd like to know Asrock's stance on the subject, juste like you, since I own an X299 board as well, the X299 Killer sli/ac. Please Asrock? Could you tell us what your plans are for the other X299 cards for which there is no Resizablebar enabled BIOS available yet?

Hello,

thank you for your quick answer. I flashed the 2.00B Bios you sent me, then followed your insturctions, however, whenever I enable C.A.M support in Bios (having disabled CSM as well), I get 5 long beeps on next reboot and I have to clear the Bios before the system can boot normally again. My GPU is an MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 10GB OC, and I have flashed the latest Bios for it (with resizable support). GPU-Z reports that GPU hardware support for Resizable BAR is enabled. Actually in the GPU-Z "PCIe Resizable BAR" section, every flag is "yes" (except for "Resizable BAR enabled in BIOS" which I cannot enable without getting the 5 long beeps problem). Are you aware of this problem ? My CPU is an i7 7740X. Thanks

Hello,

I tried again today, having previously flashed the 2.00B BIOS you sent me, but I cannot find a set of parameters that does not result in the 5 beeps when C.A.M. is enabled in BIOS.

Here is my config :
- Intel 7740X (Kaby Lake X)
- Asrock X299 Killer SLI/ac (BIOS v2.00B, the one you linked)
- MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 10GB OC (VBIOS 94.02.42.00.2B with ResizableBar capability - see GPU-Z screenshot)

BIOS settings :
- CSM : disabled
- Above 4G : enabled
- C.A.M. : enabled

I still get the 5 beeps and no display. I also have to clear CMOS in order to get my display back.

I tried plugging my monitor into every GPU outputs in turn (DP 1, DP 2, DP 3, hdmi) but the machine still emits 5 beeps and nothing more happens.

Is there any known bugs with this beta BIOS?

Hi Badaz,

Thank you for your testing.

Because we don't have MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 10GB OC in our lab, we tested MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 8GB OC instead of it.

The system can boot up and working fine with C.A.M enabled.

Here is our test config:
7820K
X299 Killer SLI/ac 2.00B
MSI RTX 3070 Ventus 8GB OC with resizable-bar vBIOS

We recommend contacting MSI to check if they have any advice about this question.

Hello, I just got an answer from MSI support who told me that this GPU (MSI RTX 3080 Ventus 10GB OC) with this VBIOS (94.02.42.00.2B) was fully compatible with ResizableBar, and that I should ask Asrock support... Well, if you do not have an MSI RTX 3080 Ventus for testing then I guess I'm screwed until you have one?

Hello, what about the X299 Extreme4 motherboard? I'm unhappy to see that a lot of x299 (all?) mobos received the CAM update but not mine...

I note that the downloads section for the ASrock Taichi x299 now has a new BETA BIOS for the CAM function -- 2.50B. I have read this forum, and I've downloaded the BIOS update, but I wanted to ask -- has anybody tried the 2.50B BIOS for CAM / resizable BAR for Nvidia 3080 series GPUs?

I have read that some have had issues after trying the last CAM BIOS versions (1.90B, P2.00B), but I don't see any feedback from 2.50B. I want to install and test this, but will not if there has not been testing done for the 3080 series GPUs.

No feedback from mods, ASrock support, or other users on x299 Taichi + BIOS version 2.50B used with nvidia 3080 GPUs + resizable BAR? Should I send an email to support? I wont bother with this, if this has been abandoned.

Hi AsRock Team
May you please create a bios update for the the X299M Extreme4?
For some reason the X299 Extreme4 has all the updates while the "M" Version
is still at Bios Ver.1.50

A lot still use the HDET platform from intel since there is no information
about any new CPUS in the near future.
