I just purchased a new X470D4U motherboard for my homelab virtualization server.

I installed the following:

AMD Ryzen 7 2700
Corsair CMK32GX4M2B3000C15 LPX 4x16GB DRAM 3000MHz

BMC Firmware Version:     2.20.00
BIOS Firmware Version:     P3.50
PSP Firmware Version:     0.9.0.77
Microcode Version:     0800820d

When I flash the BIOS version 4.21, during bootup I hear 4 beeps, Dr. Debug displays code 0xD6 (DXE_NO_CON_OUT), the screen is blank and I can no longer access the BIOS.

I eventually found that the only way to access the BIOS and downgrade to 3.50 is to insert a VGA card in a PCIe slot.

Any idea what could be causing this?

IPMI doesn't work either?

I run the 4.21 BIOS (BMC 2.20) on mine with a 3700x and 4 x 16GB mismatched ECC UDIMM's without issue... flashed the BIOS via IPMI. Originally had 3.30 ..updated to 3.50 and then to a previous Beta 4.2something .. back to 3.50 then to 4.21 when it came out.. all from my gaming PC over my LAN.

..that being said ..I'm surprised you got 4 x 16gb sticks working with a 2000 series Ryzen. I'm guessing they are running at 2666 or slower.

ASRock doesn't give much info on their Beta 4.21 BIOS other than to say that it has updated AGESA code for 5000 series Ryzens .. maybe only Matisse and Vermeer 's are supported with that BIOS?

You can try popping out the CMOS battery and then reset the BIOS to defaults per the manual and see if boots up proper .. or try with just 1 stick of memory in A1 slot (per the manual) and see if it boots .. maybe it won't boot with all 4 sticks with the Beta BIOS on 2000 series CPU's .... maybe

Either way .. you wouldn't be gaining anything using 4.21 over 3.50 with a 2700x..

..and I say "per the manual" only because generally with regular AM4 motherboards it's A2 for single stick of memory and you have jumpers to reset BIOS to defaults
