Hello! So recently, I received a Ryzen 5 5600x as a graduation gift, and found out that I would need to get either a B550 or X570 motherboard to use it, so I bought the B550 (as stated) and am having an issue or two. Every once in a while, I'll be playing a game, and out of no where it will just restart. For example, I can play a game called Rust, and it will run perfectly fine for a little while, but then out of nowhere it will just restart completely. The worst case I've had with it restarting is when I would attempt to start a game called Jump Force. Usually it will just instantly restart the moment it tries to run the game, but the furthest I've gotten without it restarting is the Title Screen

I checked the Computer Management app on my computer, and its giving me this error message

A fatal hardware error has occurred.

Reported by component: Processor Core
Error Source: Machine Check Exception
Error Type: Bus/Interconnect Error
Processor APIC ID: 8

I'm sure this has been asked about before since it seems to be an issue with the 5000 series of CPU's, and so I just wanted to know what I should do to make the PC or CPU stable so I can play my games.

I'm not entirely sure if its needed, but here are my PC specs:

CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x
GPU: Radeon RX 570, soon to be a Radeon RX 5500XT
Motherboard: ASRock B550 Phantom Gaming 4
RAM: Gskill Trident Z RGB 16gb (8x2)
PSU: EVGA 500 watt non modular powersupply

Thanks!

Dear FourLeggedBus,
Thank you for the posting.

Regarding the problem of system unstable, we would like to provide some suggestions for you to verify.
1. Clear CMOS by referring to user manual page. 25.
User manual: https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B550%20Phantom%20Gaming%204.pdf" rel="nofollow - https://download.asrock.com/Manual/B550%20Phantom%20Gaming%204.pdf
2. Keep BIOS setting default(no overclock) and only install CPU, PSU, Cooler, RAM, Graphic card, System disk to test.
3. Install one stick RAM on each slots by turns to repeat suggestion 2 to check if the problem relates to specific RAM stick or slot.
4. Update the BIOS to latest version, please download the BIOS and upgrade guide from following link.
B550 Phantom Gaming4 BIOS: https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B550%20Phantom%20Gaming%204/index.asp#BIOS" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/MB/AMD/B550%20Phantom%20Gaming%204/index.asp#BIOS
5. Reinstall a clean Win 10 OS to verify.
6. If possible, please use other CPU and RAM to cross test to check if the problem relate to the compatibility of the memory and CPU.

Thank you,

Best wishes,
ASRock TSD

Yes! The BIOS update was the solution. I went from the 1.20 BIOS version to the 1.90 version, and it has not restarted since I had to manually restart it

Thank you!

When it was crashing, was it during game? B/c I have a similar issue but min is on low idle, so when I play games it works flawlessly, but when I only open up edge, or 1 application it reboots randomly and crashes, I have bios version p 1.20, I am guessing its bios thing and not my Actual system.
