TAIPEI, Taiwan, January 25, 2016 ??Earlier, Intel® confirmed that its Skylake processors were plagued by a bug which causes the system to freeze or act abnormally when executing complex workloads, such as the stress test benchmark Prime95.

While the majority of computer users might not use Prime95 at all, or never had the urge to stress their system to the point of discovering this Intel® Skylake bug, still ASRock has already released BIOS updates for fixing this flaw on all of their Intel® 100 Series motherboards. So, on the bright side, after a quick ASRock BIOS update you will never notice or remember Intel's small hiccup.

This patch removes the Non-K OC.

Ok, you need a primer in what this thread was announcing.

The Intel Skylake complex number/Prime95 bug is corrected with the Intel supplied 0x74 patch and ASRock dutifully applied and the rolled out for User download in lightning speed once provided it from Intel

Your post above quoted has nothing to do concerning this thread. The 0x76 BIOS patch you commented on and linked profusely above, that is a completely different issue.

0x74 = Complex Number/Prime95 Bug fix/patch
0x76 = Intels forcing all manufacturers to remove ANY and ALL Non-K processor overclocking functionality

Intel pushed their behemoth weight around and leaned on ALL the manufacturers with all their Legal folks pressure to have them cease and desist what ASRock, here, discovered in the ability to enable OC'ing on Non-K processors, Sky OC. Only because Intel themselves do not want Non-K processors OC'd. In Intels business plan there are two enthusiast processors they themselves produce for the market, K and Non-K. In Intels way of seeing things, and concerning the forced removal of Non-K procesors, they make 'em and they themselves have control over their usage. Damn the enthusiast community and damned their hard earned money Users spent on Intel products.

Calling BS towards ASRock is misguided and way off the mark.

Intel threw a fit and either has or is in the process of forcing all motherboard manufacturers into removing the Non-K overclocking functionality.

Sorry to say but due to Intels actions concerning this ASRocks Sky OC will likely be removed from all BIOS releases here forward.

Your BS comments need to be spent directed at one or both of the Intel links below for it is Intel themselves that is recognized as the party responsible reason for ASRock removing Sky OC.

I also agree that it is bs, that it was removed. One day we have a certain feature, the next week it is removed. Getting tired of this. They need to tell Intel to pound sand. Intel needs the motherboard makers, as nobody wants Intel's crap boards. This is what happens when there is no competition. I really hope Zen is a winner, because Intel's bs is getting old.

And there's the 100lb Gorilla in the rooms protective shield it seemingly hides behind. It's easy for us to pontificate as Users because we have nowhere the "skin' in the game as ASRock and the other manufacturers.

I am highly considering skipping Skylake. Maybe I will just wait on Broadwell-E, and see how that pans out. My 3570k isn't horrible, but I am itching for something new.
