Hi,

Running HWMonitor, I was doing some load testing on memory and was checking the voltages.  Doing a memory intensive benchmark, the DRAM voltages went as high as 6.3v sustained.

That cant be right, right?

I have the XMP profile selected in BIOS and changed DRAM voltage by hand to 1.35. CPUID shows memory settings are equal to the XMP profile. Memory is G. Skill PC-3200.

Other than a HWMonitor bug, i can't explain it.  Does anyone have thoughts?

TIA

That HWMonitor reading must be false, since that much voltage would kill the CPU and memory.

Memory voltage should not change under load, it is a static voltage.

I suggest trying HWiNFO64, which will show your memory timings and voltages. They won't be named  as memory voltages since the programmer does not know what each voltage reading is assigned to, but I have always been able to translate.

I was hoping it was an odd thing with the monitor.  Just installed it in prep for some overclocking. This reading was called DRAM and usually shows a 1.35-1.38 setting under normal usage.  No temp issues, which I would have expected if it went nuts.

I will install HWiNFO64 also.

Appreciate it, thanks.

EDIT: Ran HWiNFO64 and it explained the weirdness. The reading was DRAM Total, meaning all of the memory banks together.  The  DRAM Voltage readout was 1.368.  Not sure why the total is reported also, but it makes more sense now.  Appreciate the help.
