Hello,

I cloned my hdd to superfast Samsung 980 pr 2TB, works fine but I can't use Samsung Magician to check it, upgrade firmware etc. It probably happens due to the M2 port being remapped to Intel RST. So, if I turn this M2_1 port remapping off in BIOS... something is loading from SSD and then it stops. After turning REST remapping it appeared in disk list, it is also selected as a boot device. Is RST Windows software making problems while it's starting? I think it will work better if it wasn't managed by RST too (or not?). Please let me know, will reinstalling Windows with RST remapping turned off would help? Oh, and I can't switch AHCI to RAID off, cause I also have Raid 1 dives in my system and this would make it stop to work.

Hi Bartillo,

Thank you for your post.

Intel RST remapping is a necessary option for a RAID array when using non-Intel SSD. When you disable it, the system will not able to recognize your non-Intel SSD in a RAID array and cause the RAID array to fail.

So it is not able to use SAMSUNG Magician when your SSD is in a RAID array.

For details, please contact SAMSUNG for more information

All the best

Hey, thanks for clarifying, now I am sure that I have not too many options. Anyway, lack of possible firmware SSD update is not the way it should be. Please check this video which shows that using SSD outside an intel RST IS possible https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J28jdwiCuPM" rel="nofollow - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J28jdwiCuPM

Bests
