I have a X570m Pro4 with Bios 1.9 currently running a Ryzen 2700x. I want to use a 5800x processor. Do I need to swap out the CPU first before I update the bios or do I update the bios with the my 2700x? What is the proper procedure for doing this?

Thanks for your help!

You need to update the bios but be careful to operate the PC with a 2nd Gen Ryzen, as it could lead to system instability. If you swap the cpu first, the Bios would be incompatible and it won't run.

I updated my bios with my 2700x and the 5800x won't post! I took all the ram and did one stick at a time. My bios says 3.6 and it works fine with my 2700x, but it won't even post with 5800x. What's wrong?
