Have 2 new identical PCs with ASRock A520M/ac, Ryzen 5700G, 16gb ram, Windows 10. One is office machine; one is studio machine. Room temp is 21C with good ventilation & front case covers off both machines. Both machines report a CPU temp of 56C in the BIOS read, yet a temp of 28C in the AMD Radeon Software read. BIOS temp read seems high while Radeon temp read seems good. Can't find much info to explain the temp difference. ?? Thanks.

There are 2 things at play here, firstly, the BIOS actually puts quite a bit of
load on the CPU, with UEFI the temp reported is no longer considered "idle".
The second thing is AMD uses a temperature offset, reporting a higher temperature
on the CPU than is accurate. I believe the offset from the 1000 series through to
the 3000 series was 20c (reporting 20c high). Most monitoring apps take this into
account these days. TCTL is the sensor that reads high, as the name suggests, it
is used to control the fans. For some reason a higher reported temp results in
better fan ramping, at least that is my understanding.

Regardless, you have nothing to be concerned about

Thank you. I actually read (somewhere) there could a 27 degree offset, which is ironic because that's just about the diff between the two readings. So when a machine is started up in BIOS mode that puts a stress on the machine? Almost seems opposite of what one might think. This is good news. Thanks again.
