I recently bought this Intel Key A wifi/bluetooth chip for the Ultra M.2 slot on my x99m Extreme4

http://www.amazon.com/Intel-7265-IEEE-802-11ac-Bluetooth/dp/B00RCZ4I6S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456372283&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+7265+wifi" rel="nofollow - http://www.amazon.com/Intel-7265-IEEE-802-11ac-Bluetooth/dp/B00RCZ4I6S/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1456372283&sr=8-1&keywords=intel+7265+wifi

But it won't fit by like a mm - if the chip is a Key A slot why is it not fitting into the Ultra M.2 slot on this mobo?

Does anyone know which wifi/bluetooth chip that is compatible with Linux/Ubuntu that WILL fit into the Ultra M.2 slot?

Given the model number that you provided, which is an M.2 2230, it should fit in your board fine.

Intel specs:

Your board's manual shows the 'A' mounting point is the 2230 form factor position. How does it not fit, to short or to long? If to long, you did not push it in far enough, or have it upside down.

So after several tries I was able to finally shove the wifi card into the slot, was the tightest fit I've ever seen.

I plug everything back in, it does the cold boot and shuts down right away and will not turn back on.  I've removed the wifi chip, shut off PSU and it still won't turn back on.

What did I do wrong and how do I get the computer to boot again?

Unplug the power from the system completely, push the power button to fully discharge the PSU, remove the CMOS battery and leave the system over night. It sounds like something shorted and the boards protective systems kicked in. If the board is still OK this should get it to power on again.

Ok so the system seems to be working fine now.

Ubuntu 16.04 works fine, but Windows 7 turns off my video card fans upon windows login screen - but this may be related to some windows updates it recently installed.

Any idea why the wifi card would short the board like this?  I didn't have the screw installed - could this be the issue why it shorted?  Do Asrock mobos come with the specific screw for the M.2 card slot?

Unless the screw is the issue, I don't know if I want to try out the M.2 slot again and risk burning out my board completely.
