Last night the network on my computer stoped working and windows gave the error "missing network protocols". I then tried running a live linux instance (which used to work), but the networked did not work either.

When looking into Windows event manager I found an error related to the ethernet controler :
(translated from french)

The driver handlening system stop the process of the driver e22w10x64.inf_amd64_db08423f74b5886d\e22w10x64.inf for the device id PCI\VEN_1969&DEV_E091&SUBSYS_E0911849&REV_10\4&1B7FE41B&0&00E2 with status 0x0

What should I do now ? Is this a physical problem and should I send the motherboard back ?

Thanks

Good job checking it with a linux live instance Thumbs Up It is always helpful to be able to rule out the OS as the issue. I would try clearing CMOS via the battery removal method and try it again but if that does not restore functionality then I suggest you return it if you are still able. By the sound of it the NIC is dead. If you get a replacement you may also want to replace your LAN cables that connect to the machine to be on the safe side, something had to have damaged the NIC.
