Hey, So it arrived and seems to be working. However once I connected it, my sata SSD (BX200 256gb) stopped working - it will not boot.

It seems you have your BX200 SSD connected to either the SATAE_4 or SATAE_5 port. Those ports share resources with the M.2 port on your board. When a drive is in the M.2 port, the SATAE_4 and SATAE_5 ports will no longer work. From your board's specifications: The M.2 Socket, SATAE_4, SATAE_5 and SATA Express share lanes. If either one of them is in use, the others will be disabled. Just move your BX200 to another SATA port, four others are available, and you'll be able to boot from it again. BTW, your board's M.2 port is a PCIe 2.0 x2 connection. Your Samsung SM951 requires a PCIe 3.0 x4 connection to operate at its full speed. ------------- http://valid.x86.fr/48rujh" rel="nofollow">

Hi parsec, Thank you for your reply. First thing I did was disconnecting all other SATA devices and connecting my old SSD is to SATA0. I tried all other ports too. I also made sure that the boot order is actually correct and the old SSD is first in line. I simply refuses to boot when the M.2 is connected. It goes past post, all I have is black screen with flashing text cursor in upper left corner (the underscore character '_'). |

Are you saying if you remove the SM951, the PC will boot fine from the BX200 SSD? What version of Windows are you using? If it is Windows 7 or 8 (not 8.1), then the problem is there is no NVMe driver for your NVMe SM951 built into Windows 7 or 8. Let us know if you are using Win 7 or 8. If you are using Win 8.1 or 10, then you should boot from your Windows installation media and run a Repair on the BX100 installation. You may have installed Windows on that SSD with another drive running on the PC. Hi parsec, I'm using Windows 10, and I'm sure that boot files/partitions are on the BX100 - I always disconnect other drives when installing windows. Right now when there is only BX100 connected it boots fine. But when I shut down, plug in the M.2 card it will not boot into Windows - I just get flashing text cursor in upper left corner. I will go and buy a USB stick and create a bootable windows/installer to see if the system can even access the m.2 disk. If so I will just install windows on it. |

I have exactly the same problem. when i boot from my SSD disk, i have a black screen with flashing text cursor in upper left corner (the underscore character '_'. Is something new with your case. Have you find a solution? |
