I have a ASRock Z87 Extreme4 that is working fine except that the USB2.0 ports are not enabled on power up. As a result, I cannot boot from a USB thumb drive nor use a USB keyboard and mouse in the UEFI menus. I'm only able to use the PS/2 keyboard port.

I have cleared the CMOS. Can anyone tell me how to go from there to a working USB2.0 port.

By the way, once the computer has booted in Ubuntu, the USB2.0 ports work.

When you enable Ultra Fast boot in the BIOS, the detection of USB ports, is disabled.
In Windows 10, it is best to disable fast boot, or Ultra Fast Boot

I removed a USB adapter from one of the PCI-E connector and the USB2.0 ports now work at power up. It was a Rosewill RC-509 PCI-E to USB3.1 Expansion Card.
