Hi there!

I am trying to get this system up and running:

- http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/X99E-ITXac/" rel="nofollow - ASRock x99e-itx/ac
- http://ark.intel.com/products/91317/Intel-Xeon-Processor-E5-2699-v4-55M-Cache-2_20-GHz" rel="nofollow - Intel Xeon E5 2699v4 (Broadwell-EP)
- 2 x  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147382" rel="nofollow - 16GB Samsung DDR4 ECC RAM
- http://https://www.asus.com/us/Graphics-Cards/STRIXGTX970DC2OC4GD5/" rel="nofollow - ASUS STRIX GTX970
- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147467" rel="nofollow - Samsung 950 Pro 512GB

Currently it does not POST. The BIOS version that came shipped with the motherboard is 1.20. It starts up, the fan spins for a few seconds, and then all is silent. There is no video output to that point, and no other sign of life.

Several of the other X99 motherboards have received "2016 Q2" BIOS updates, however, this one has not. Will it, soon?

I think my options are currently:
  1. Exchange the motherboard for a X99M Extreme4 and try to get a V3+ BIOS chip to use with it (how?);
  2. Hope that ASRock can help me get the ITX board working, with an upcoming V3 bios and a chip?
  3. Exchange the CPU for the Haswell-EP version.
Ultimately I selected this motherboard not just because of size, but because it had the best features:
  • Dual Intel Gigabit LAN;
  • Onboard Wifi;
  • Micro-ATX or smaller;
  • PCI 3.0 x4 M.2 slot.
In fact, at any size, there is no other x99 board that has all of those features. Of course, if I can't use it to boot my $4,000 processor, it is essentially useless.

Please help!

Thank you,
Jameson

You will need to contact Tech Support directly about the Broadwell-EP Xeon. A few X99 boards have already received BIOS updates to support Broadwell but not the X99e-ITX as of yet (I see no reason why it won't get an update).

If tech support can help you then you should be able to purchase a new BIOS chip for it preflashed with a version that supports the v4 Xeon.

Let us know how it goes Thumbs Up

Hi @Xaltar, @csrikant, I contacted Customer Service and they were quite helpful. Apparently the V3.x BIOS release for this motherboard (to match those released for many of the other ASRock boards) has already been developed, and is currently in testing, and should be posted on the site, soon. Customer Service agreed to mail me a BIOS chip flashed with the latest version, as there is no other way for me currently to boot with the CPU.

Great news, let us know how it goes once you get the BIOS chip.
