I'm going to buy this motherboard. If it's possible I would like to specify some points.

Is it reasonable to set to this motherboard a processor with postfix "K" - Intel Core i5-6600K, for example? Has this motherboard functionality for overclocking processors with postfix "K"? If no, will ASRock's technology "DDR4 Non-Z" work independently of processor overclocking?

Am I right that maximum value of parameter "Share Memory" in UEFI SETUP UTILITY is 1792MB?

Thanks in advance.

Dear customer,
This is ASRock Technical Support Department.

Regarding your question, please refer the Intel chipset SKU comparison as below picture:
http://www.kitguru.net/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/intel_chipsets_2015.png

According to the Intel official datasheet, the Q170 platform cannot overclocking.
For your reference.

As for the size of shared memory, the item will be max with 1024MB.
The actual value will depends on OS.

Kindest Regards,
ASRock TSD

Thus real parameters of your products don't correspond to the information of official documentation. That is I tried to figure out. Thank you for the consultation.

I can only assume you are referring to this when you say the documentation is not accurate as nowhere does it state that a Q170 chipset board is capable of overclocking. Please note "The actual value will depends on OS." which may well be the figure you stated on a particular OS.

Only the Z-type Intel chipsets allow processor overclocking, and only the 'K' type processors may be overclocked.

So for over clocking, you must have both; a Z-type chipset (ie Z170) and a 'K' type processor (ie i5-6600K.)

The DDR4 Non-Z OC feature, for over clocking only some models of DDR4 memory, is independent of the processor being used. A 'K' type processor is not needed for this feature to work.

There is no point in using a 'K' type processor with this board. The Q170 chipset is meant for use in business or work at home environments, and supports features like vPro, AMT, and SBA. Choosing this board for use with a 'K' type processor does not make sense.

But please note that not every model of memory may have its performance increased with this feature, and the over clock is only at two preset levels.

I have seen retailers publishing the maximum shared memory value as 1792MB for this board.
