Subject: H370M-ITX/ac - 5 beeps when booting but works

Hi,

My PC with a H370M-ITX/ac makes 5 short beeps when is turned on, but boots perfectly fine.
According to what I can find online, these beeps would lead to a missing GPU. I have a Core i3-8300, which has an integrated GPU.

The system does not beep when a screen is connected (I use HDMI). However, when I unplug the cable and boot the system, it beeps, but as said works fine.

I use this system as a NAS, so I don't need the screen. At the same time, I need the beeper to know if things go wrong.

It didn't make these 5 beeps until I reinstalled the OS (Linux) and disabled CSM options.

Does UEFI mode create this issue? Can you help me?

That is normal, the actual beep code indicates no display output is active.
If you have a display cable connected and are not getting a display
and it beeps 5 times then there is a GPU error.

You can just ignore the code.

Thanks for your reply!

This code was not produced when using CSM/Legacy mode, is there a way to disable it in UEFI mode?
I turn on my system every day, and is very noisy :(

OK, looks like there is an (external) solution: buy an HDMI dummy plug that simulates a monitor on the other end.
I will go for this one since they're cheap and should solve the problem.

I typically just disconnect the PC speaker and only connect it when troubleshooting

I can confirm that a "dummy HDMI plug" bought from Amazon works fine, emulates a display and eliminates the 5 beeps.
Hurray!

I keep the PC speaker connected because the OS I run on my NAS interacts with the PC speaker to tell the user if a specific activity is completed or not.

Thanks. Was facing same thing when I forgot to connect Display Port cable after cleaning. Good to know that this is a feature and not any issue.
