MB: Fatal1ty B450 Gaming-ITX/ac
BIOS: 5.20
CPU: 5600G
RAM: 16GB DDR4-2400 (2x8GB)
SSD: WD SN770 1TB

Hi there - posted a short while ago about upgrading the bios on my MB for a new 5600G. Had a 2200G previously and was told by Asrock I needed an interim cpu to get the bios upgraded - long story made short - sent MB to Asrock and they upgraded for me.

Rec'd MB and installed new SSD with previous RAM modules (worked perfectly with 2200G/3.30 bios). Can't get both RAM modules to work now - only one will work when in A1 slot. (It's not the RAM - both will work on their own in the A1 slot.) When I add the second module in the B1 slot, CPU fan will come on but chassis fans will not - computer will shut down and then attempt to start up again. Never gets to Asrock start up screen. Thought it might be a power issue and installed a new 700 watt power supply - nothing changed.

I haven't made any changes in the BIOS - I don't overclock or have done anything in BIOS that should have affected this.

Please let me know if I left any details out. Any assistance is greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Please try clearing the CMOS, take out the battery and let it sit outside for 30 minutes, reseat it and check. Warning, this will reset all BIOS settings.

thx for the reply!

i did clear the cmos via a jumper and had no change. an asrock tech support told me "Seems your CPU (5600G ) might have some problems with memory controller (which is inside your CPU)". it's a brand new cpu so i'm at a loss right now what to do.

Just an idea. Make sure DIMM B1 slot is clean. Use compressed air to blow away anything that could be stuck in there.

You had to send the MB to AsRock to get the BIOS updated, right? That's a scary thought.... I mean, the shipping both ways, and who knows who does what with it....

thx for the reply - have already cleared the slot - no change. i'm thinking i'm limited to the one slot until it's time for a new board.
