Hi all

According to Bulletin ID: AMD-SB-1031 the AGESA version required to mitigate vulnerabilities in 2nd Gen AMD Ryzen Threadripper Processors ?œColfax??CPUs is SummitPI-SP3r2 1.1.0.5

https://www.amd.com/en/corporate/product-security/bulletin/amd-sb-1031

At the time of writing this ASRock still doesn't offer BIOS versions with that AGESA version on any of the official support websites for its X399 series motherboards, so I opened an ASRock support ticket asking about it and they quickly responded to me attaching the BIOS version 3.94 for X399 Taichi.

If any user/owner of ASRock X399 motherboard is concerned about it should contact technical support

https://event.asrock.com/tsd.asp

PS: Seems like a conspiracy, neither ASRock nor MSI nor Gigabyte nor ASUS (except for ROG Zenith Extreme and ROG Zenith Extreme Alpha) have released new BIOSes with AGESA 1.1.0.5

Very strange that none of these companies are posting the new BIOS publicly.

Thanks for the notice on this, it is much appreciated!

Thank you

Just my guess but I think it's complicity with AMD

It seems that AMD has made several AGESA versions sent to the AIBs and they have hidden them from us (or maybe they have also hidden them from the AIBs), according to CPU-Z the BIOS version 3.94 for X399 Taichi was released on January 2022

Does it officially support Resizable-BAR option like 3.92
Beta do ? https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X399%20Taichi/index.asp#BIOS" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/X399%20Taichi/index.asp#BIOS

Or it is similar regress situation like with my Z68E4G4, where latest beta gives experimnental new options (W8/W10 UEFI support) but then newer official version lack it but gives Update CPU Microcode. https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z68%20Extreme4%20Gen3/index.pl.asp#BIOS" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z68%20Extreme4%20Gen3/index.pl.asp#BIOS

Please check if 3.94 respects chosen XMP profile or sets lower RAM Mhz settings like 3.92 does for compatibility.

Yes. Resizable-BAR option is also available in 3.94 version.

I don't know.

No problem in my case to reactivate XMP with my DDR4 not included in QVL.

According to ASRock tech support 3.94 is also Beta and is possible go back to any other/previous BIOS version (I have not tried going back).

Sorry to jump in on this but I just noticed the 4.01 BIOS. I still have the 1950x. Do I even need to update, or is GEN1 TR 'immune' to these CVEs?

After much tweaking, I got 4x8 sticks of Trident-Z running at 3200MHZ and 8x8 sticks running at 2966. I'm on BIOS 3.20 now. I'd love to try 3.92 for the resizable BAR but will i lose the ability to tweak my RAM? 8x8 @3200 would be great for getting this old girl a little more life :)

Very good question

My advice is to ask AMD and ASRock for technical support, only they can give you the right answers.

I am not a user of 1st Gen Threadripper but if you share here the answers of both technical supports you'll be welcome, also hoping other users share with you their experiences about RAM custom values under AGESA SummitPI-SP3r2 1.1.0.7

Good luck

I'll ask AMD. I'm sure they will tell me to use the latest BIOS to mitigate any bugs, but I was under the impression that the fixes for Spectre, etc slow down Windows by upto 10%. I don't want that if I'm already 'immune'

Upgraded my 1950x Fatal1ty X399 from 3.92->4.01

Had to disable AMD TPM to use new flash in bios.

Smooth upgrade. New settings. Used my previous 14-14-14-28 saved settings with 8x8GB sticks.

Had to reenable resizable bar. Everything works fine.
Installed latest AMD chipset drivers.
I was unable to run Ryzen Master even after disabling VBS in windows. But I never got it to work under windows 11.before either.

I was also able to increase Mem Frequency with same previously mentioned timings to 3066MHz with 8x8GB ram sticks. I've never had that stable before on this board.
