Good ladies and gentleman,

I am building a budget oldie for my kids.
I have a Ryzen 5 3400G (YD340GC5M4MFH) and I plan on buying the solid Asrock B450M Pro4 rev. 2.0 .

On the Asrock support ( https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4%20R2.0/index.asp#CPU" rel="nofollow - https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450M%20Pro4%20R2.0/index.asp#CPU ) it says under
"validated BIOS" - "ALL" for this processor.
Does it mean, that it will work directly without updating BIOS, or I will have to update it for sure?

For other Ryzen processors there are specific BIOS versions listed, for example p4.90 or p5.0 etc. , but for my 3400G it simply states "all".

Thank you in advance!
Martin

Ooh, a board I actually have. I bought mine in mid-2022 to build a machine with left over parts (R7-2700 non-X, 1050Ti), and it came with then new 5.40 (AGESA 1.2.0.6b). The board supported pre-5000-series from the get go, because it's a relatively new release, and based on what I got, whatever you can buy now are likely late 2022 or newer production.

Their page says they don't recommend most of the newer BIOS for Pinnacle Ridge, which my 2700 is, but I've not had a problem running the absolute latest BIOS.

Your 3400G is Picasso, so I'm sure it'll just work.

Hi!
Thank you for the reply. I also think that it should come with newer BIOS version, but wanted to make sure, because I dont have an older generation Ryzen CPU to update the motherboard BIOS, and the mobo lacks flashback button.

Cheers!
Martin
