Subject: C621A WS Board Jumper Settings

Setting up new ASRock C621A WS. This will be used as a single WS.
-
Jumper 54: ESPI/LPC Selection Jumper, Manual says 1-2 ESPI (Default), my board came with the jumper on 2-3 LPC.
-
Jumper 42: ESPI Flash Sharing Jumper, Manual says 1-2 Master ESPI Flash Sharing (Default), my board has no Jumper.
-
I Will be using Xeon Platinum 8351N CPU. All other Jumpers are in (Default).
-
Question: Should I use ESPI or LPC?
-
This board was unopened sealed, so I'm not sure why these 2 Jumpers were not in Default state.
-
Thanks for any help.

You can open a support ticket with ASRock and inquire. It is possible someone on the
forums here may have an answer for you but WS setups are not common here.

On occasion a manual may have errors, be they outdated info from a previous revision
or typos. If you checked in your hardcopy manual from the product box, compare
it to the one on your product website (pdf). If there is a revision update the
newer copy should be on the site.

Thanks, The manual that came with the MB is the same Version as the Online one.

Anything you could give toward ESPI or LPC as being a choice?

I'm afraid all I know is that eSPI is newer and was designed to be an improvement
over LPC. In the tech world that doesn't always mean better in every situation.
The fact that there is a jumper to select between the 2 tells me that there may
be situations you will want LPC. My guess is that it would be dependent on use case.

ASRock tech support should be able to give you a better answer. The last time I built
a work station or sever was a very long time ago.

Looking into it a little more, I find that ESPI is helpful with boards that have more than 1 CPU. ASRock C621A WS is a singe CPU board. The CPU I'm using is 8351N, its Scalability is 1S Only, so I'll keep it on LPC.
