Hello everyone.

I have a PC built with:

- ASRock B450m Pro4 (latest BIOS)

- AMD RYZEN 2700

- G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series DDR4 3000 - 16GB ram

- Corsair cx450m 450W PSU.

I just replaced my previous GPU (Sapphire R9 280x) with a a RX580 8GB 2048SP branded as Lexindar.

Since the upgrade I'm having an issue when any audio. This happens through the GPU whether it's through HDMI or Displayport to a monitor, and also when I connect wired headphones and get the audio through the motherboard Realtek audio device.

The audio makes weird crackling noise, similar to a coil whine, and sometimes it disappears completely. This also causes some performance issues and some slowdown when running 4k video files for example.

If I connect a bluetooth audio headset then it runs perfectly fine.

Here's a video showing the audio issues:

I tried installing previous Adrenaline drivers and made some tuning changes suggested on other posts, and I also updated the motherboard BIOS to the latest version, but I still have this issue. I even tried running Windows 10 on the PC, and I still had this problem.

Any idea what the source of the problem could be? I thought it would be the GPU but since the issue happens when audio is going through the realtek integrated device, so I wonder if it's something that can be fixed by settings on the BIOS.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried a speaker connected to the MB?

Yes, using both the audio from the gpu (hdmi/displayport) or from the realtek integrated sound card causes the audio issue.
Only if audio is from Bluetooth (which is from a Tplink ax3000 pcie card) then audio is fine.

Hello

My advice is to use AMD Cleanup Utility to remove graphics drivers or DDU, both links bellow

https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601" rel="nofollow - https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4460" rel="nofollow - https://www.wagnardsoft.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4460

Both tools do not affect to installed AMD Chipset Drivers.

I think its a GPU drive issue or conflict of some sort. please try SerchTech's suggestion. If that doesn't work, maybe a fresh OS install and setting up everything afresh might help.

I already tried a fresh driver install through DDU, but it didn't help.

I found a temporary solution for now, a user on techpowerup forum suggested to change the PCI gen speed to gen2 instead of gen3, as it turns our that in mining they change it back to gen2 for stability. And voila' - after changing the PCI to gen2 in the BIOS, it is now running just fine, and since apparently there isn't much difference between gen2 and gen3 with this card, I didn't notice any slowdown or drop in fps, in fact I got a higher score in Furmark.

If switching to PCIe Gen.2 helps, that would indicate that you're getting errors on the PCIe bus. I would for sure take the GPU out and clean the connector with electronics cleaner (or just isopropyl alcohol) and try again. I've fixed a GPU issue this way before. If it doesn't help, you can always go back to Gen.2 speed. Nothing to lose by trying.
