As the title says, if I toggle the CSM mode from enabled to disabled and reboot, I get five beeps and a black screen. I reset CMOS with the rear panel button and it works again. Booted into both Windows 10 and Linux it's working fine, also did a Memtest86 pass with 0 errors.
I can make (so far) many other changes to the BIOS settings without this happening. Only disabling CSM leads to a repeatable black screen on restart.
I installed a brand new battery a couple of days ago because time and date were not being retained through reboots.
This is my first Asrock motherboard, so I'm not sure if Asrock do things differently to others. I assumed when I updated the BIOS from 1.40A (which it arrived with) to 1.60, that 1.60 would include the intermediate 1.40 version?
If that's not the case, should I try to downgrade the BIOS version back to 1.40 prior to re-upgrading? I'm concerned that the 1.4 BIOS version included updates to ME and microcode and other fixes that were maybe skipped?
Any ideas?
Hardware: 10400, 16GB 3200MHz RAM, Noctua LS9 cooler, Corsair 550W PSU, Sapphire Nitro+ RX580.

All motherboard manufacturers basically build the same hardware, because most of it is integrated in the CPU and chipset.
ASrock is not different from others in this respect.
When CSM is Enabled, the board, can support legacy devices, and Windows, will be installed in MBR mode.
When CSM is Disabled, there is no legacy support, and Windows will install in GPT (UEFI) Mode.
CSM should be disabled, before installing the OS.
The second important thing, would be, if the graphics card supprot Graphics Output Protocol (GOP), if tyhis is supported CSM disabled, should work fine, if not usually the system just pops back into the BIOS.
Check if WIndows is installed in GPT mode, and try removing the graphics card, and use integrated graphics instead.
Or use the supprot form, and check your spam folder
