Hello,

Can the "Asrock Z690 Extreme" memory limit be increased by a BIOS update ?

Currently, the memory limit of this motherboard is 128 GB (4 x 32GB) but a single DDR4 module can hold up to 64 GB, so if the motherboard supported such modules, it could theoretically allow 256 GB.

In the same way as Asrock regularly increases the RAM compatibility of the Z690 Extreme through BIOS Updates, can we hope that it will one day increase the Max Memory limit from 128GB to 256GB ?

Thank you.

AsrockFrenchFan.

I doubt anyone on the forums can answer that. Sometimes the limiting factor is
RAM module capacity and can indeed grow when higher capacity modules become available.
Other times however the capacity is limited not by the physical slot capacity but
rather how much RAM the platform can address.

You could try opening a support ticket with ASRock, they may have a more difinitive
answer for you:
