Hi guys.

I have a Z690 Extreme board with i5 12600k as CPU. I have Windows 11 running on this system.

Yesterday I did a bios update from 8.01 release to the latest 13.02 revision.

After rebooting the system, Windows 11 asked me to change the PIN due to an "hardware modification" and now it shows the "activate Windows" on the right corner of the screen. If I try to use the recovery license function, it just doesn't work and it says that I can't recover it.

Why this happened? Is there any way I can recover my license without buying a new one? It would be annoying to buy another license.

Thanks in advance for the reply.

This is more a Microsoft issue.
Your activation is stored in the Microsoft cloud, and contains the combination of hardware, that it is activated with.
Somehow this is also related to using a Microsoft account, which Microsoft more or less forces You to.
Did You know, with the Pro version You can also use a Local account?
It can be setup during the installation, at the point where it is asking for a Microsoft account choose setup for work or school>> Sign in Options>> Domain Join Instead>> and just enter the login name Yopu desire, and You can leave out the password.
Now Windows 11 Pro is installed with a Local account

-------------
Kind Regards
