Hello, I have the B650M-HDV/M.2 motherboard and in the BIOS I have the option "NVMe sanitization tool". Now when selecting this to clear up my ssd, I have the options "format" and "sanitize". Could someone explain what each of these options does? I could not find any information about it online. When would I use which one?

Additionally, does it wear out the ssd a lot when I often format or sanitize?

Never used such tools build into motherboard and probably never will because you have dedicated tools for that you boot from USB drive and they are giving you more options and control.

Format should be formatting the partition. This could be useful if you wanted to reinstall the system.

Sanitize should be erasing the drive (writing 0 in every sector) so nobody can read the content of the drive once you for example sell it.

None of this operations should degrade the drive more than regular use.

Hey, do you think the stuck at 0% shown in the video is a bug from ASRock side?

Additionally, do you have suggestions for good CLI programs to do the sanitize stuff?

that wasn't enough time to write in every sector of the drive, but again maybe i'm wrong and 'sanitize' is something different or just wiping the partition table

a dedicated program would certainly give more feedback about the operation and the result

i would just use linux livecd (like ubuntu or popos) - beside partitioning and disk tools you can use internet etc
