I recently bought a B550M Pro4 and installed a 5600G. Since the board came with an updated BIOS, the combo worked right away without updating the BIOS. I do see there are newer BIOS versions available now, but all of them still say that you can't update the BIOS without an old 3-series AMD CPU. The official wording is:
*To support Ryzen 5000 series processors, it requires to update the BIOS with Matisse, Renoir or Vermeer CPU
Since my motherboard already knows how to talk to my 5600G, it seems like those disclaimers should not apply and I should be safe to update to the latest BIOS using my 5600G to do it. Is this correct? Should all those warning disclaimers really say that the warning only applies to older BIOSes?
I don't want to try updating my working system only to find out that the motherboard bricks itself partway through the installation when it somehow forgets how to talk to my 5600G.

So it really only applies to those with ancient BIOSes that can't talk to the 5-series CPUs? They really should update the wording to make that clear.
Thanks for the help!

Conclusion: I was able to update to the latest BIOS using my 5600G. Thanks again!
