Following components in system:
4. Motherboard: ASRock B650E Steel Legend WiFi
8. Memory Module 1: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB CMT64GX5M2B6000Z40 9. Memory Module 2: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB CMT64GX5M2B6000Z40 10. Memory Module 3: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB CMT64GX5M2B6000Z40 11. Memory Module 4: Corsair Dominator Platinum RGB CMT64GX5M2B6000Z40
How to control RGB leds of RAM/memory sticks ?
So far I tried: 1. iCue, doesn't seem to work. 2. Asus Armory Crate + RGB Memory Plugin for ASUS AURA SYNC, doesn't seem to work. 3. ASRock Motherboard Utility doesn't have RGB options. 4. ASRock Polychrome RGB (seems to do something, but mostly turns the RAM modules into one color... ?!?)
Are there any other options ?
Also is there a way to get the original rainbow effect without restarting the system or removing the ASRock software ?

The following happened:
I installed iCue yesterday but did not reboot the system, rebooted it today. iCue did not seem to detect the RAM lights.
Installed all the software above.
Went into bios changed nothing.
Went into polychrome RGB, tweaked some settings.
Did two reboots.
iCue seems to detect the RAM lights now...
Started polychrome rgb, a red arrow appeared in iCue after starting it again.
After a while a hint message shows up. iCue stopped receiving data from memory ram etc.
Rebooted it again. This time I did not start polychrome rgb, auto start is on off.
Now iCue is properly detecting the ram and I can play with the lights !
Pretty cool !
Problem seems solved, but too early to tell, I will experiment some more with these fun lights ! ;)

Hmmm the irony is the lights looked best without all this software haha !
I think without the software it does something special !
The effects rainbow and such get close, but it's not quite the same hmmm...
Kinda sucks a bit, I want the original ! ;)
I guess disabling iCue from starting up might fix it and give original lightning.
Though I do see how some more "advanced" lighting could be created by "stacking layers"... with each layer a dimm could be selected...
I play with that first, after that I want the original lighting back ! ;)

OK, the non-software lighting is definetly different and much better/more interesting to look it, glad it's back ! ;) =D

Just to document this properly, is kinda hard, because there are many options.
The best way to get the most spectacular effect is to disable all iCue corsair services in Windows. This will allow the motherboard/bios/prospect 700r/some kind of hardware to take over the DRAM settings, without these services running the RGB can no longer be controled by corsair software or any other software, this gives the most spectacular rainbow running downwards, all kinds of colors and must interesting to look at because it's very diverse yet smooth and shading.
Other things tried: polychrome... it can control the ram leds it has some functionality.
Other thing tried: armory crate from asus, cannot control the lights.
The DRAM also has something special "device memory mode" on or something then it will remember it's setting and run that without services running, or some of them, but when all are stopped, the hardware seems to take over.
In case you can't get it working and the lights stay off, make sure in bios of motherboard it says to have leds/rgb on etc.
Currently the dram lights seem somewhat out of phase, a restart/reboot might help to get them back in line or just leave as be... but it seems a bit off right now..
Dim 3 seems to be out of phase with rest... a bit strange... I will try one restart and see what happens :)
This was kinda hard to figure out, took me two days sort of... gave up on first day, but I can remember disabling iCue service in the past and the effect came back.
Kinda weird that one has to do that. I also did some polychrome rgb update because it's driver was vunerable and had to be updated, not sure if this had any effect, probably not, but not sure.

I did on last test:
Restarting windows did not have any effect on the RGB lights and then just stayed on and continue the cycle.
Shutting down power and restarting computer from cold boot, did have an effect and the rainbow was immediately apperently, but then the colors start cycling again... so seems normal, but maybe a shutdown and restart after playing with all these software effects might help/affect it to keep it in a certain way but probably not, this is probably normal that it starts cycling in a certain way.
I wonder what is the source of the effect, motherboard/bios ? or build in lighting per dram stick ? probably bios/hardware I think cause others should they not stay in sync, unless there is a slight timing difference per stick, maybe on purpose, but it does it in a certain way, dim1,dim2,dim3,dim4 could also be an electrical delay, not sure but for now I think it's "master" controlled by bios/mb, but electrical time difference might be true too hehe, the mystery remains ! ;) :)

One last note: Everything at medium/middle speed looks best.

Hmmm... today I decided to play around with temperature based led effects... and just discovered something interesting:
iCUE software also has "plugins", by installing these plugins it gives access to other control software like asus armoury crate.
This allow asus armoury crate to control the DRAM leds as well for increased lighting options, control and synchronizations... very interesting.
(I also discovered asrock has some new drivers for asrock steel legend b650e motherboard... for example new amd chipset drivers, have not tried them yet, but might try them later on today, there is also something new: AI NPU driver but this is for much newer processors with build in AI stuff, granted ryzen 7950x also has some ai capabilities but it's different I think, so this driver probably not for this cpu ! ;) :) I checked the website for this driver and it does not list this processor as supported.)
So far the armoury crate from asus has an interesting "rainbow effect" that makes the DRAM look different than anything I have seen before I think... :)

WOW, "Stary night: lighting mode is also very impressive, it's red lights, sparkling, like a christmas tree, getting massive christmas vibes ! Very good mode for christmas ! ;) =D

"Silent night" music comes to mind.
The music lighting effect is not working yet, not sure how to get it working with HDMI, AI says to set output device to HDMI, I am supposed to go to device, which allows me to select the gpu only, but then nothing shows up... hmmm...

One reason why the music rgb might not be working is because I de-installed asus game sdk, maybe it's necessary for this functionality to work.

I am actually not sure if I de-installed it or if the software it self did it, re-installing asus aura software went smooth, but so far I don't see a change yet... investigating...

Aura creator says to update, then I click update but nothing happens.
MBDII stuck at 0.0.10.12 ?

Wow Stary Night with random colors is also very impressive !

Wow background and effect allow stary night to be customized for even more effects, and also choosing random for effect is interesting too, many combinations possible... colors can be chosen... just this one effect, plenty to play with.

OK, me done playing with armoury create, disabling/de-linking the DRAM from asus control and set it to "smart" for gpu only and temperature.
iCUE allows more fine grained control.
Each DIMM can be set to different temperatures, and heat sensors can be chosen even including the gpu, for now I set it as follows:
Dimm 1 leds: CPU temp Dimm 2 leds: Motherboard temp1 Dimm 3 leds: Motherboard temp2 Dimm 4 leds: Motherboard temp3
Gpu leds: GPU temp.
Temperature ranges and colors can also be set ! Nice so far !
I wish the pc case fans could also be setup for temperature control, probably not possible yet, but not sure.

After de-linking the dram from asus control, iCue must be run again to re-enable the fined grained temperature control... tiny issues like this cause a lot of time loss to re-apply settings... hmmm...

Wow I just discovered something not sure what caused it:
iCUE can now also control the asus graphics card.
Not sure how it happened:
Either 1. installing the asus plugin and restart iCue did it.
or
2. Re-installing asus aura or an updated version of it did it, cute lol...
iCue also has murals which can be applied, not sure what it is, probably base leds on background image so far I don't like that.
(also adaptive colors based on background image also did not work in asus armoury create as somebody else reported on reddit).
Going to explore iCUE possibilities for graphics card.. hehe.

Wow, I was just experimenting with MSI Center for the power supply.
And I felt like experimenting, so I was trying it install msi mystic lights at the same time I was live streaming on youtube..
OBS Studio...
and then this installation program wanted to restart my computer and it crash obs studio ?!
WOW.
( I made a little video how to get the armoury crate icon on the desktop so it can be dragged into a desktop folder )
To trick to do that is:
1. Open task manager 2. Run new task:
shells:AppsFolder
3. then right click on asus armoury create then click yes to create icon on desktop.
Here is the youtube video:

Until it crashed I guess lol... restarting computer... hopefully nothing bad happened to msi center :)

Well that crash was pretty nasty, obs studio probably locked up the graphics card, hard to shutdown the computer to be able to restart.
On restart msi center/msi mystify lights tried to replace some mlmodule dll thing but could not replace it... re-tried a few times, tried shutting down msi center in tray icon, didn't help, so finally decided to ignore, kinda risky if software is in inconsistent state not sure what happened... and what it involves... trying to update msi center ! ;)

Strange thing is, iCUE lighting effect was not applied, instead it reverted to device memory mode which I set to sequential lights to indicate "a loading effect"... running iCUE returned the light settings, not sure why this happened, maybe because of msi center/msi mystify lights running, not sure.

HwInfo64 killed the iCUE software, somehow it interferes with temperature read outs and it damages the software, restart needed.
HwInfo64 did ask for an update but not tried yet...
Many Many Many compatibility issues with all these software packages.
MSI Center -> Mystify plug in is very cool for prospect 700R lights.
It can actually re-act to music !
It has pop settings and jazz settings and rap settings and movie and play settings.
The motherboard leds can react to music as well via polychrom rgb, music setting.
So that is pretty wowie !
I could not get asus armoury crate working for music.. would be cool if it was fixed then I can make ram and gpu react to music as well.
There was also an incident where accessing my vhds didn't react and weird sound control issues if you link asus armoury crate to icue... or enable volume settings in asus armoury crate... weird stuff, volume would go up and down as I clicked iCUE very strange behaviours observed.
Use this software at your own risk ! ;)
And I haven't even tried the rest yet ! Like AI plugs ins.
Ok I have to do reset because em... want temperature leds back for DRAM. Gjez...
I hope this is my last reboot today, but probably not going to experiment with new chipset drivers to see what that does.
Maybe this is stupid and foolish, but I feel like experimenting, but slightly getting fed up...
But I also want to see if it can "debug" my system a little bit more, or if it will make it more buggy.
So far system was already pretty stable for a long time, but I want more... I want less buggy behaviour... hmmm...
Updating it probably won't help... but just curious... I do hope it recgonizes a temperature sensor 5 on mobo better, because it was probably a limiter or something or not there... just weird.
Some other drivers have updated downloads tool like ethernet/realtek etc... but if it ain't broke don't fix it. Messing with ethernet could be risky if it fucks up and I can't uninstall and I need help from the internet, would suck if my internet goes down.
Ok later peeps.
