Just bootstrappig my first 2011 board with a 12 core Xeon EP, put 4x16GB DDR4-2133 ECC modules from Crucial in, for a total of 64GB RAM and noticed that there isn't an ECC configuration setting to be found anywhere in the BIOS.

HWinfo and similar report non-ECC operation, while the DIMMs are clearly registered ECC DIMMs.

So what's going on? Where should that ECC config be find in the BIOS?

Handbook doesn't seem mention any ECC settings either.

I bought this board specifically, because of the ECC support. If ASrock understands ECC support as " won't fail if it's installed", I guess I'll have to return it, because I actually want it to correct ECC errors and report on any such occurrance.

Did you try these steps? That's how I checked my new X99 WS-E build w/ 5x32 GB ECC DIMMs:

Also from Windows w/ CPU-z:

Mine definitely comes up as:

DMI Physical Memory Array
location Motherboard
usage System Memory
correction Multi-bit ECC

Tried the Linux steps first and dmidecode also shows it correctly even though there are no such ECC settings in BIOS.
