currently running 2700x (no OC) on x470 Taichi. Is the 5800x3D a solid upgrade and doable w/o also buying x570? Also have NVME 970 EVO Plus, gigabyte 3060, 32gb 3200 ram, H500 case with 750 PSU gold. plan on using Noctua NH-D156 Chromax.black.

Provided you update to a BIOS version that supports it, yes, it will be a significant
upgrade for you. You would only need to upgrade your motherboard if you need PCIe
4.0 support. Aside from that, performance should be within margin of error between
x470 and x570.

While your GPU supports PCIe 4.0 I doubt you would see any real world performance
gain in upgrading. At best a few FPS. You can always upgrade to an x570 board
later on down the line and squeeze out a bit more performance out of your next
GPU upgrade. By then the x570 boards should be even more affordable anyway.

Hope this helps
