Two questions please: - How can I connect 7.1 receiver to H170M Pro4 MB? In the receiver side I have 2 coax (white+red) / spdif / digital coax - Is there an option to add spdif plug to this MB? |

Not that I can see. Typically SPDIF is only supported on higher end boards. My Z97 Extreme3 has SPDIF but my H170 Combo does not for example. You will either have to look into converters or purchase an add in Sound Card I am sorry to say. -------------

I agree with Xaltar. There is no option to add an SPDIF coaxial output to that board. Your board does not even have a TOSLINK S/PDIF output. That would need to be converted to an electrical S/PDIF coaxial output of course, but not even an option for this board. You said your receiver has two coaxial SPDIF inputs, white and red. The white and red part worries me, since the correct color for an SPDIF coaxial input is either orange or black. White and red usually are used for left and right channel analog inputs. An SPDIF input uses only one cable for both channels, or a multiple channel surround sound digital signal (Dolby Digital, DTS.) It is possible that the coaxial SPDIF inputs are white and red, because the manufacture used them because it is cheaper and easier. I'm just trying to tell you to be very sure that those inputs are really SPDIF coaxial inputs. One potential solution for you is the following. You would need to check the following VERY carefully, since it is NOT a given this will work with your receiver. What exact make and model receiver do you have? Some (NOT ALL) receivers have HDMI inputs. Given an HDMI input, the next question is will an HDMI input on your receiver accept an SPDIF signal over an HDMI cable, and have that signal available for input to the D to A convertor chip in the receiver. IF the above is true, then it might be possible to use the HDMI output on the board's IO panel to send the SPDIF signal to the receiver. As I said above, there are many things you need to verify before there is even a chance this will work. Do you use a video card? If so, what model is it? Some video cards will send an SPDIF signal over an HDMI cable.
