Hi I was looking for some advise on the condition of a new ASRock Fatal1ty Z170 Professional Gaming i7 Motherboard I just received.. The Z170 mosfet heat-sink had the red aluminum part of the heat-sink floating around in the motherboard bag. It was located between the red Z170 label and back plate. This has come out at some point in time between when the board was made and me receiving it. I don't have a CPU yet as I have just ordered the other parts for my sky-lake build today and it now looks like it is going to hold up my build for a few days to a couple of weeks as I live in a rural area. Should I keep the board in the condition it came in assuming it works? And if so how do I attach the lose part to the main heat-sink and could it have damaged the board that will cost me at a later point in time? Or wait for a RA number to return the part. There seems to be a problem with the RA as its taking some time. I guess I am really disappointed as it is replacing my sandy-bridge platform and its taken me some time to save for the cost of a quality new system only to find the motherboard with a big question mark hanging over it. I think ASRock make great motherboard and its a real shock to see something like this, dose it happen often or am I just unlucky and other then the part floating around the motherboard looks awesome and cant wait to build it and test out the three m.2 interface. Always return a part that arrives damaged. Even if it works fine it isn't worth not having the peace of mind that comes with the RMA. Even if the piece that fell off was purely cosmetic, who knows what kind of damage it could have caused to other components rattling around in the packaging. -------------
