Hi all. I recently built a new PC and performance has been solid for about 2-3 weeks without issue. However, I've recently run into a litany of issues and I'm starting to believe the Motherboard my be the culprit. Here's a quick timeline of the issues; 1. System started randomly shutting down cold. No warning, just like someone cut the power. Had to drain power for it to boot and it would continue to shut off after 15-30 seconds of successful boot. 2. Figured it was a power supply so I purchased a new Corsair HX650 to replace my aging HX620. System worked for roughly 24hrs. Then I had to clear CMOS for it to boot a few times. 3. New PSU will not power system on at all. Drained power from system and CMOS reset proved useless. 4. Installed old HX620 again and system has been running fine for 30mins including gaming. Possibly related: I had a new H110i installed and the Pump died after 3 weeks of use. So my system currently works with my OLD PSU and new H110i. Specs: i5-6600k (No OC) * Z170 Fatality Gaming-ITX\AC * Sammy 500GB SSD * Corsair HX620 (OG!) * MSI 1070 Aero OC * Win10X64 Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated! |

Since you had a faulty cooling pump, could the CPU have been overheating? Not sure if the system would shut down for that or not... just a thought. Is it still doing this with the new pump? You weren't very clear on that. |

As said above, CPU over heating could shut down the PC in an instant. You would need to monitor the CPU temperature while gaming, which is no big deal to do. I'm confused too about what is now working and not. Meaning what CPU cooler you are using, and if the PC is randomly shutting down. Another possibility is the voltage regulators (VRM) for the CPU are over heating. Using CPU coolers like yours causes less air circulation around the VRM heatsinks, that are next to the CPU. We have no idea what PC case you have, and what the case fan configuration is. Also the configuration of the H110i's radiator and fans is important to know. It used to be easy to monitor the pump speed when Corsair used a standard three pin fan connector to power the pump. Now they use a SATA power connector, and (I think...) you must use the Corsair Link software to check the pump speed. But the Link software is known to be rather buggy, and some people won't use it. Which type of pump power connector do you have? Do you have the fans pulling air into the case through the radiator? Or are the radiator fans exhausting air out of the case, but using the air inside the PC case to cool the radiator? Soo many questions! 1. New H110i was installed and the new PSU ceased to work after install. Been a few hours now old PSU and no problems. BUT it's the same PSU that "failed" in the first place. 2. CPU was definitely overheating before I got a new H110. However that does not explain why it happened the new PSU and H110i 3. Fractal Define Nano S. Front mounted Radiator. Fan pulling air through rad. 4. Heat is not the problem. There's something going on if my original PSU that did not work after an hr of tinkering is suddenly working.
