Hi,
I just purchased a used Z77 OC formula motherboard.....I was able to install windows 7 ultimate  but now programs have disappeared.
Unable to re-install windows.
When I go to Start the All Programs has gone and in the "search programs and Files box I get AQAQAQAQ.This also appears when trying to type in a URL..
Cd drive...Can not install programs from cd's
I am Absolutely lost and ask for help re this problem as I currently have a useless computer.
Cheers,
Ronald

Given your first bit of information, your Windows 7 installation appears corrupted.

Then you had disappearing programs, and are unable to re-install Windows. Very little detail there, particularly about what is happening when you cannot install Windows again, or installing programs from the CD drive.

My first obvious suspect would be the OS drive, or the data and power cables to the drive. Have you tried another drive for the OS? Or the same drive with new or known good cables?

If you were able to install Windows with those SATA cables, but later had problems, that tends to point more to the OS drive being bad. Is it new, or what? We don't even know what drive you are using.

Your board has two SATA interfaces, the standard Intel and the add-on Marvell SATA chipset. Where is the OS drive connected, to the Intel or Marvell SATA ports?

The Marvell SATA ports are the four yellow ports closest to the bottom of the board. The Intel SATA ports are the two top most two yellow ports, and the four black SATA ports above the yellow ports.

The Intel SATA ports are superior to the Marvell SATA ports, and should be used for an OS drive. This matters, don't ignore it. If you don't know which SATA interface you are using, check the boards manual:

The OC Formula model boards are complex, and really not for beginner PC builders.

There is one other big question, a used mother board. Did you see it working in a PC before you bought it? It could have been not working well when you bought it.

Hi,
I thank you kindly for your reply.
I have tried new cables.
Tried to install with two almost new SSD drives which work perfectly in other computers.
Windows installation works until it reaches the "I accept the license terms" then the tick in the small box keeps flashing and the "next button" does not work.
Does boot with the corrupt drive  but .
DVD  shows files but can not install files.
Keep getting AQAQAQAQAQAQ  when typing in a URL and also with other functions.
I have many other computers, including a  Asrock P67 board and have never experienced this problem.
Thanks again for you time.
Regards,
Ronald

Me Again,
The cpu is a new 2600k which I purchased several years ago, not that should matter...Broke my heart to break the factory sealSmile
I have 7 sandy Bridge cpu's in different motherboard brands and love them all....Better than my 990X cpu.

May now need to hang this Asrock board on the wall in my office to constantly remind me of my folly .
Have a good day.
Ronald
