I'm attempting to update the BIOS on my Z170 k6 motherboard BIOS v1.70 using the internet flash on the UEFI and I can't get it to save my BIOS to my USB drive. It creates a file "A1419.ROM" but it's empty(0kb). I can't update my BIOS without a saved backup so what should I do?

No information given about your system, such as is an OS installed, what version, where and which type of USB port you are using. All of those things matter if you use Internet Flash. Without an OS installed, you don't have a working Internet connection yet.

Assuming a Fatal1ty Z170 Gaming K6 board.

Since you have a working PC that you used to post this thread, you can use it to use the Instant Flash UEFI/BIOS update method.

Download the UEFI file from your board's Download page, unzip it and copy the resulting file to a USB flash drive.

Insert the USB flash drive in a USB port on the board's IO panel. If you use Windows 7, you must use a USB 2.0 port.

Start/restart the PC into the UEFI UI. Go to the Tools screen and select Instant Flash. If the UEFI update file on the USB flash drive is good, it will be listed on the screen. Follow the prompts to perform the update.
