Hi, I am trying to find out how to disable USB 3.0 in bios and can't find this option. Need that to instal another OS. Does anyone have idea how to do this ?? Thanks for help Cheers |

" rel="nofollow - Yes, I have tried black as well. Manuals in network advise to Disable USB 3.0. Few people have described similar problem and the solutions was to turn off USB 3.0 in bios. Although XOS Sierra USB stick is in USB 2.0 port, active USB ports causes the problem. I am quite sure that disabling USB 3.0 in my case would solve the problem. However, I have no idea how to do is in ASRock bios ? |

Your board and most if not all ASRock boards do not have an option to disable the USB 3.0 ports. But there is another problem, that is unique to Intel's new 100 series chipsets, including the Z170, so this applies to your board. The Intel 100 series chipsets do not use USB 2.0 drivers at all. They only use USB 3.0 drivers for ALL of the USB ports, including the USB 2.0 ports. These are examples of the Windows Device Manager entries for the USB 2.0 ports on my ASRock Z170 Extreme7+ board:  Note that these are the Generic USB hubs/ports, and the driver is USBHUB3.SYS. That's why JZ asked if you were installing Windows 7. Windows 7 does not have a built in USB 3.0 driver, so when installing it on a Z170, or any other Intel 100 series chipset board, none of the USB ports will work during the installation. A USB 3.0 driver must be added to the Windows 7 installation files in order to get any of the USB ports working, including the USB 2.0 ports. ASRock and other mother board manufactures provide a tool to add a USB 3.0 driver to the Windows 7 installation media because of this situation. It seems the same situation is happening with XOS Sierra, the lack of a USB 3.0 driver. Disabling the USB 3.0 ports on your board will not make any difference, since the only USB driver a Z170, etc, board will use is a USB 3.0 driver, for ALL of the USB ports. This is NOT an ASRock issue, it is caused by Intel's new method of only using a USB 3.0 driver for all of the USB ports. Windows 7 users were surprised by this, and now we can add XOS Sierra to that list.
