I'm having trouble getting drives connected to these two SATA ports working.
I know they have power.
I am at capacity with my SATA ports so I cannot simply use other ports.
I've tried switching data cables.

I believe the trouble started when I plugged in an eSata drive which conflicts with A4.
Since then I cannot get the BIOS to recognise any drive plugged into either A3 or A4.

The ASMedia SATA chipset for the A4 port is shared with the eSATA port. Only one of them can be used at a time, which is stated in the specifications.

How long is your eSATA cable? One meter is the usual maximum length, longer cables can cause problems.

Is the eSATA connected drive still connected? What is the SATA mode set to for the ASMedia ports?

Hi - the eSata drive is no longer connected but the problem with the internal A3/A4 ports continues.

I have tried changing the SATA mode to IDE to see if they would be detected on that setting but there is no change.  The LED indicator says A6 indicating a problem as well.

I also tried a BIOS reset but ultimately the same issue came up.

" rel="nofollow - I have exactly the same problem ... asmedia a3/a4 sata ports are effectively dead.

They have worked sporadically in the past.

I do not have anything plugged into the asmedia esata port on the back panel (shared with a4 i think).

So, all 6 intel sata ports are connected to HDD, the A1 / A2 asmedia sata are connected to HDD's just fine.

How can I get A3/A4 to work?   The A3/A4 are not even recognised in bios, so I'm guessing there is no point playing around with windows drivers after the OS has loaded.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.
