" rel="nofollow - My System:

Motherboard: ASRock H170 Fatal1ty Performance Series
BIOS: BIOS Date: 08/14/15 00:24:43 Ver: 05.0000B
Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit (10.0, Build 14393) (14393.rs1_release_inmarket.161004-2338)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-6100 CPU @ 3.70GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.7GHz
Memory: 16384MB RAM
Display Device: Intel(R) HD Graphics 530
Display Memory: 8154 MB
Dedicated Memory: 128 MB

Trying to Install/Run two games are giving me fits.
Games: Silent Hunter 4 and Caesar IV

Error Message:
"A required security module cannot be activated.l This program cannot be executed (8016).
Please have a look at http://www.SecuROM.com/message.asp?m=module &c=8016
for further, more detailed information"

The indicated link states:
"Intel has resolved an issue related to games failing to launch with game error code 8016 on systems with 'Skylake" CPUs.
Please contack your system provider or M/B MFGR to ensure that yhou have the proper BIOS update."

Apparently, the SecureROM module (which determines if you are using a legal copy) was either part of the BIOS in older boards, or part of the OS (at least in Windows XP)

Intel seems to think the SecureROM module should be in the M/B BIOS.

The point being: SecureROM is in neither the Windows 10 OS or in the ASRock BIOS, and neither game will install/run without it.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

PS: This problem has NOTHING to do with the HD Graphics 530 (internal). Other games run just fine, mostly older games.

Thanks in advance.

" rel="nofollow - SecuROM is a DRM protection scheme for CDs and DVDs.

Search the Internet on "SecureRom module", and you will find that Windows 10 does not support it. For example:

Shortly after the release of Windows 10, Microsoft announced that games with SecuROM DRM will not run on its new operating system. Citing security concerns over the software due to the way in which it becomes "deeply embedded" in the system, Microsoft said "That?™s where Windows 10 says, 'Sorry'." Supporting SecuROM could have been a possible loophole for computer viruses to exploit."

You'll also find various hacks to work around it.

After reading about it, it's the last thing I want in my board's UEFI/BIOS.
