" rel="nofollow - A few years ago, I built a media PC based on the Z77E-ITX using an Intel i7-4770T. I'm wondering if this motherboard can be upgraded to a 6th or 7th gen CPU. Anyone know? If it can use the newer CPUs, will it still be limited to 16gb RAM?

Thanks in advance for any info.

No, it isn't compatible with 6th or 7th gen CPUs. Based on the fact that you are using a 4770T I am going to go ahead and assume Z77E-ITX is meant to read Z87E-ITX or Z97E-ITX or 4770T was meant to be 3770T.

In any of the above situations the answer is the same. If it is the Z97E-ITX then it can support a Broadwell (5th gen) CPU but the Z77 and Z87 will not. 6th and 7th gen CPUs are socket 1151 and are not backward compatible with sockets 1150 (Z87/Z87) and 1155 (Z77).
