Subject: Xeon E5-1620 V4 on X99 WS
Date Posted: 19 Dec 2016 at 1:52am
" rel="nofollow - ok. As far as I have seen the Xeon E5-1620 V4 is not supported as all by ASRock according to all CPU Support lists (I checked for X99 boards)  ... rly o.O?

I need to now:

Does the "ASRock X99 WS"

a) Run/Work with a Xeon E5-1620 V4 ? (latest BIOS)
b) Is the  Xeon E5-1620 V4 supported ?
c) Why is it missing on the lists ? The Xeon E5-1620 V3 and Xeon E5-1630 V4 is supported ... !

With kind regards

Xoanon

Seeings it was only release in June of this year .......... 6 months ago!

Follow Xaltra advice. My guess is it is supported yet too soon to have been added. But contact ASRock Tech Support FIRST. They will also tell you what BIOS rev you need flashed to support this processor.

Of course iIt is a pre sale question. The BIOS Version WOULD be P3.10. But I dont own the Mainboard (nor the CPU). I dont own it so I cant use the Form because I have no Serial number.

I want to buy it. Put for a reason unknown to me ASRock is the only Manufacturer not official supporting the Intel Xeon E5-1620v4

Hm.

I tried Tech support. I tried Email. I tried the vendor(did not know but at least a reply). I tried via my buissness emails. I tried here.

No reply.

Guess what I will not buy. And not for the fact that the "Intel Xeon E5-1620v4" is not officially supported - I would be willing to try it by my self. But for the fact that I does not get an answer from ASRock.

I got a reply from ASRock Support:

Because we do not have the same Intel XEON E5-1620 v4, so we cannot test on this motherboard yet.

X99WS can support E5-1630 v4 CPU since BIOS P3.1 or later version.

Here?™s the link of comparison E5-1630 v4 (10M Cache, 3.70 GHz) and E5-1620 v4 (10M Cache, 3.50 GHz)

https://ark.intel.com/compare/92987,92991" rel="nofollow -

The difference between these CPU is Processor Base Frequency and Intel® Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, so it boot-up wit latest BIOS.

Just to confirm that Intel Xeon e5-1620 v4 will post with Asrock X99 WS even though it is not on the list yet. Bios version P3.10. It'll post even with Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 MHz, also not on the list, though at a reduced speed.

(the reduced speed is expected ... since you cant have fun with multipliers and the Xeon v4 only up to 2400)

And it will work on the X99 Taichi too:
