Subject: Z87 Extreme4 (new version) USB ports not working.
Date Posted: 19 Dec 2016 at 5:00pm
Good day,
i have serious problem with my Z87 Extreme4 motherboard- everything work good except USB ports...
Only mouse (wireless) and keyboard are correctly recognized and working (in all 2.0/3.0 ports).
I have newest BIOS flashed in UEFI over the internet.

Doesnt matter where i connect my bootable pendrive (USB 2.0/3.0 ports), it wont show in UEFI BIOS or Windows.
I checked 4 pendrives, 2 phones, 1 WiFi card and 1 external HDD in Windows and UEFI - nothing, only mouse and keyboard work.

When i try to configure USB Settings in UEFI (legacy/patch) i got some kind response in Windows, but i always get "Unknow USB Device (Port Reset Failed)".

Processor: Intel I5-4670k
Motherboard: Asrock Z87 Extreme4
RAM: Corsair DDR3 2133MHz CL11 2x4GB
GPU: Sapphire RADEON R9 290
HDD: WD Blue 640GB
PSU: EVGA 600B
OS: Windows 10 Pro

Please help Cry.

Ps. Sorry for poor english.

" rel="nofollow - Is this a new build, or one that's been running fine till this issue?

You're not seeing this behavior because you're using a USB Hub are you?

I bought it few days ago from previous user.
He did not have any issues as he said.

Dont have any USB hub connected to mainboard (but i connected monitor one at beggining).

I found another oddity- after BIOS upgrade, cleaning CMOS  or crash (after failure OC) causes Intel GPU displays graphic and my eGPU runs with 100% fan speed.
After booting Windows and turn off computer, all come back to normal and eGPU working as main graphic adapter.

" rel="nofollow - Ok

It's beginning to sound like you moved the HDD w/OS over to this new MB?

Yes, that is exactly how it was.
I did it because had to transfer data from 1st partition to  2nd partition (it worked before).
After that when problems occured i have reinstalled whole Windows using DVD.

""After that when problems occured i have reinstalled whole Windows using DVD.""

Is that saying it's working now with a fresh Windows install, or that this problem still exists?

The ports you have the USB mouse and KB in, do any other USB devices work in those two particular ports? Or seriously, ONLY the mouse and KB?

Its crazy but yes, only keyboard (Microsoft Sidewinder X4) and mouse (Logitech G602) working.

More crazy is that it doesnt matter what USB port i will choose (2.0/3.0), those two are always working.

I tested:
Four Pendrives, Kingston 4GB, Platinet 32GB, Toshiba 8GB, Sandisk 16GB - nothing;
Two phones, LeTV X800 Pro and Honor 5x - only charging;
One WiFi card TP-Link TL-WN822N - this one seems to be damaged after connecting to mb, not working on laptop atm.

Those that you tested above, did any of them work, even once, on a fresh OS install?

I'm beginning, beginning, to think you got took on the used motherboard Angry

It is used mainboard, I confirmed it before Wink.
None of this tested by me devices worked even once on fresh Windows.
Also, none of them are visible in BIOS System Browser feature (except keyboard and mouse) and boot manager.
