" rel="nofollow - Hello,
I have been searching for motherboards that are compatible with encrypting SED drives. The information available for this is quite scarce.
I did stumble upon a post on hardwareforum.com where I guy sent an inquiry about this to AsRock support for a Z170 Pro4S. AsRock support responded :
1. Please reboot the system then press[Delete] to enter the BIOS setup.
2. In BIOS main screen, please press[Ctrl]+[Shift]+[F3].
3. Afterward, press[F10] to save the setting and exit.
4. Reboot the system then enter the BIOS setup again, you can see the HDD security Configuration in Security tab. "
Can someone confirm this procedure is possible on all recent boards? Is it specific to AsRock boards?
Thanks in advance!

I can confirm that this procedure will add an option to set drive passwords in the Security screen, for drives that support encryption, on an ASRock Z170 Extreme7+ board. For example:

I cannot say whether or not this feature is available for all ASRock Z170 or other Intel 100 series chipset boards. I'll see what I can find out about that.
